Traffic and Transportation Engineering focuses on basic theory and key technologies. Systematic and intensive studies on simulation and control of road vehicles’ dynamic performance, energy-saving and environment-friendly technologies on transportation, traffic safety and information technology and road vehicles’ operation and control have been carried out. Traffic and Transportation Engineering has developed into a unique discipline with the road vehicles being the carrier, traffic safety, energy conservation, environmental protection, new energy technology and operation quality control acting as the main directions, coordinated development of automobile, traffic and society being key points.
As the “12th Five-Year” and “13th Five-Year” key discipline, Traffic and Transportation Engineering is equipped with advanced research platforms including the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technology, the National Teaching Center for Virtual Simulation and Experiment, the Key Laboratory of Automotive Engineering in Jiangsu Province, the Key Laboratory of New Technology Application for Road Vehicles in Jiangsu Province, the Key Lab of Electric Vehicle Drive and Intelligent Control in Jiangsu Province, the Key Laboratory of Industrial Cyber Security Technology of Jiangsu Province, the New Energy Vehicle Operation Intelligent Technology Engineering Laboratory and the China-US International Joint Laboratory for New Energy Vehicles and Intelligent Transportation System. The total area of the laboratory is more than 7000 square meters and total value the lab equipment is up to 50 million yuan. It has developed into an advanced platform in the China’s transportation field with high-level working teams, aiming for sophisticated teaching and research, training high-level innovative talents.
Main Research Area:
(1) Dynamic performance simulation and control of road vehicles
Focus on the key and basic science & technology of dynamic characteristic simulation and control during the operation of road vehicles; analyze the relationship between each subsystem of road vehicles, coordination mechanism and its impact on the running quality; constructs the theory and method of coordinated control of vehicle driving performance; study on the comprehensive evaluation index and control strategy of the control system so as to make the system performance match well and improve the dynamic characteristics and running quality of the road vehicle system.

(2) Comprehensive Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Technology for Traffic and Transportation
Conduct theoretical and experimental research on the formation mechanism of traffic noise, mechanism of vehicle vibration, transmission and control methods to explore new methods and technologies for vehicle vibration noise control; develop the comprehensive noise reduction technology for sound-absorbing and noise isolation and low noise exhaust muffler to reduce the pollution of air flow noise, exhaust noise and tire noise on generated during the operation of vehicles.

(3) Traffic Safety and Information Technology
Consider integrated system of ‘human-vehicle-road’ as the research object, and focus on vehicle safety technology, road traffic safety technology, vehicle collision dynamics and traffic environment; utilize vehicle dynamics, wheel-ground mechanics, animation technology, flexible multibody dynamics, trace, computer graphics and database interface technology to study the safety of high speed vehicles and road traffic accidents, and put forward the causes, predictions, evaluations and solutions of traffic accidents; conduct deep research on the driver condition monitoring, tire dynamics, auxiliary braking technology and road traffic accident prediction technology.

(4) Operation and control for road vehicles
According to the important applications of vehicle system dynamics in the field of traffic engineering, study the vehicle operation and control based on experimental modeling, multi-degree-of-freedom model and multi-body system dynamics model; conduct deep research on the field of vehicle dynamics analysis and control technology, road vehicle operation and intelligent control technology and other fields.

Qualifications:
1. With a Ph.D. degree; good health; have graduated from a well-known university inside at home or abroad; Ph.D. degree obtained within 3 years; under the age of 35 (age limits for foreign postdoctoral fellows can be appropriately adjusted).
2. Have a solid background of transportation engineering or background of vehicle engineering, computer, electrical, management and/or other related professional background.
3. Be enthusiastic for scientific research; have innovation and teamwork spirits; have the ability to independently conduct scientific research; good English language proficiency; have published papers with high impact factors.
4. Meet requirements for postdoctoral management of Jiangsu University.
Treatment:
Salaries and subsidies are provided according to the relevant provisions of national postdoctors and Jiangsu University.
1. Postdoctoral treatment:
(1) Postdoctoral fellows have the same treatment as teaching staff.
(2) Salary: Have the same annual salary as the intermediate lecturer (about 110,000/year), annual salaries for the candidates with the excellent post-doctoral support are 160,000 to 200,000 yuan per year.
(3) Housing: postdoctoral fellows can choose to rent or not rent apartments, and the existing apartments will be distributed according to the principle of voluntary application and first come first served. The monthly rent subsidy is 700 yuan, and it will be deduced if an apartment is applied.
(4) Various fund applications: As a postdoctoral fellow, you can apply for various types of research funds or reward funds. Such as the National Hong Kong Scholar Program, Sino-German plan, international exchange program (project introduced from abroad, dispatched project, academic exchange project), Postdoctor Innovative Talents Support Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation.
2. Foreign Postdoctoral Treatment:
(1) The salary system for foreign postdoctoral fellows is annual salary system, which is undertaken by school, institute, discipline and cooperative supervisor. The school encourages and supports cooperative supervisor to provide more favorable treatment for foreign postdoctoral fellows. Annual salaries provided by school and cooperative supervisor are different according to world rankings of the school where the doctorates are conferred (the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings). For the outstanding, the annual salary can be further discussed. The specific annual salary (before tax) are as follows: (unit: 10000 yuan / person).

(2) Foreign postdoctoral fellows can apply for all kinds of postdoctoral science funds during the station; according to the needs of scientific research projects, they can participate in international academic conferences or short-term academic exchanges with approval of schools and cooperative supervisors.
(3) Foreign postdoctoral fellows who have obtained professional and technical post qualifications can use professional technical positions for work contacts or academic exchange. Foreign postdoctoral fellows may be appointed corresponding professional technical positions according to their academic performance during the station. The appointment time of the professional and technical posts will start from the date of appointment if proceed to teach in Jiangsu University after postdoctoral period.

1. The applicant submits the resume, representative papers, and other relevant information that can prove ability and academic level.

Foreign postdoctoral recruitment process:
1. The foreign postdoctoral applicants should contact with the cooperative supervisors. The cooperative supervisors verify the ideology and morality, research abilities, academic level and research achievements of the applicants. After being approved by the cooperative supervisors, the applicants can submit written applications to the institute which offer the postdoctoral program;
2. The cooperation supervisor assists foreign postdoctoral applicants to login Chinese postdoctoral network for application, and to submit the corresponding paper material;
3. After verified and approved by People's and Social Welfare Department of Jiangsu Province, the Personnel Department handles arrival formalities; Department of International Cooperation and Exchange assists to deal with the relevant works in accordance with the provisions of country affairs concerning foreigners.
